John O’Neil

john-oneilJohn O’Neil is a semi-retired financial consultant, with a home base near Toledo, Ohio. He resides there with his wife of 44 years, Charlotte., his son Jeff, and his two overly spoiled pooches, Bella and Chauncy.

John was a practicing CPA in Ohio for almost 30 years, retiring from that profession as a partner with Plante & Moran in 2006. Since then, he has served as Director of Finance with the Toledo Zoological Society, as well as a part time outfitter in the fly fishing department of Cabelas in Dundee, Michigan.

John and his wife have owned a cabin on Big Creek, near Luzerne, since 1993., where he spends as much time as possible. He was introduced to the Au Sable, and fly fishing for trout, by his dear friend, the late Bill Halliday, one of the early directors of the Anglers. An avid fly tier, John has tied flies for Gates Lodge for 20 years. He will readily admit to being a streamer freak. He also confesses to foolishly chase the elusive muskie in Ontario, with (astonishingly) hardware.
