Grant News

The Anglers of the Au Sable has been awarded a $2,000 grant from FFF National to help pay for the North Branch habitat restoration effort. Terry Lyons wrote the Conservation Grant application. He informed the Riverwatch that any member or member club is eligible for amounts up to $2,000. Project applications are submitted to and approved by the FFF Conservation Committee. This is the fourth grant received by our club form FFF for instream work. Our affiliation with FFF is obviously worthwhile.

In addition to the FFF award, Gina Lyons applied for and received a $500 "Helping Hands Grant" from her employers, Allstate Insurance Company. This money was earmarked for annual river clean-up expenses. Allstate awards these grants to employees who volunteer their time on behalf of non-profit groups such as the Anglers. Among Gina’s other notable contributions to the Anglers was 12 dozen homemade cookies for the after clean-up barbecue. RWOL
