New Internet Service

Michigan's citizen environmental and conservation movement now has a new gathering place on the Internet. ENVIRO-MICH is sponsored by the Mackinac Chapter of the Sierra Club as a service to the grassroots citizen environmental and conservation movement. "Any person interested in Michigan environmental issues who has an electronic mail address can sign up for ENVIRO-MICH free of charge," said Allison Horton, director of the Mackinac Chapter. "We're really excited about bringing our whole Michigan movement closer together with this electronic virtual community."

Information distributed on the service includes:

• Alerts, political and environmental information and background on Michigan environmental issues.
• Voting records of Michigan legislators and the Michigan Congressional delegation
• Requests for help and efforts to foster the formation of coalitions.
• Announcements of conferences and meetings by Michigan non-profit organizations and citizen groups.
• Educational and scientific information and copies of news and media stories on environmental and conservation issues.
• Information about upcoming key legislative and administrative decisions.
