Anglers Win Conservation Award

On Saturday, the first day in February, Bill Halliday and George Alexander represented the Anglers of the Au Sable at the annual meeting of the Huron Pines Resource Conservation and Development Area Council at Gaylord. The Huron Pines RC&D covers eleven counties and approximately four million acres in the northeast lower peninsula. Active since 1972, the Council works with rural communities, units of government, and organizations such as ours, to promote wise use, development, and conservation of the area's natural resources.

This year the Huron Pines RC&D presented its annual award for outstanding conservation work to the Anglers of the Au Sable. In the above photograph, our vice-president is holding the plaque. He is flanked by Dan Sikarskie, the Huron Pines RC&D Coordinator and Richard Karsen, the Huron Pines RC&D chairman.

To be chosen out of the many fine organizations and projects that the Huron Pines RC&D assisted in this past year is a significant honor for our organization. The award plaque is in the Board Room at Gates Lodge and reads:
