In January, 1995, Department of Natural Resources employees Jim Truchan and Gary Whelan were each awarded Kingfishers for their outstanding work in the FERC Hydro Relicensing Process.
In April, 1995, the board awarded a Resolution of Lifetime Achievement to Frank A. Bud Powell, a staunch supporter of catch and release as early as 1938 and a man who recorded in his fishing logs having caught (with his sons) and released over 30,000 twelve inch-plus trout. Bud died in May 1995.
