Fellow Members and Friends of the Au Sable:
Last week, the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) bowed to Rep. Matt Gillard's (D-Alpena) request for a public hearing regarding a proposal by Savoy Energy of Traverse City to build exploratory wells near the Mason Tract. See Rep. Gillard's press announcement.
If you can make the trip to Grayling on August 18, your attendance at this meeting will be critically important in sending a firm message that lovers of the Au Sable ecosystem will be heard. I ask that you try to make this a long weekend (if you're traveling to Grayling) and let your voice be heard.
